Believe me and save yourself some time and effort. It wasn't a good movie. There were a few meritous startles that make you jump once in awhile. One of them made me miss a stitch on my needlework and I didn't notice it until the end of the block. For crying out loud! Now do I rip it out or do I sneak a stitch in? What would you do?

For those who looked at my web cams at the bottom of the blog: The first one is Mt. St. Helens that blew a couple times. I like to keep a current cam of it going so I can see if I have to run for the hills.

The next one is of the city of Seattle, so I can see what kind of weather I will have to face once I get to work.

The next one is of the Floating Bridge - how's the traffic. And the last one is the airport - always good to see is the ramps are backed up with cars.

I'm Going to Try a Cross Stitch Rotation

Now that I know how to do it, I'm going to try a rotation. I have about 50 projects in my stash and want to do all of them at once. But I will go for four projects to start. I think I'll plan on one difficult one, Morning Star and then a medium one, Home is Where the Cat Is, an easy one, Tempest in a Teacup, and the easiest one - a sampler called Cats, Cats, Cats that only needs about 5 hours to finish. My time limit is going to be one week on each as I will work evenings while in from of the TV. So that will be about 10 hours a week. Wish me luck!

Another sunny day - phew! It's going to be in the 60s F. today! Now I know why that pretty pink sweater I bought on Sunday was on sale. The way the weather is getting warm this early, I probably won't get to wear it for awhile.

Seattle Sunshine

It is so nice outside - if you look at my web cams at the bottom of my blog - you can see the nice sunshine - (if it isn't evening lol)

I am currently working on Home is Where the Cat Is - I started this cross stitch a couple years ago and decided to finish it. Like you know what is going to happen next? I've been feeling like that all day today and it is blowing me away! I know that something big is going to happen and I can't quite put my finger on it. It's like on the tip of my tongue. I've had this feeling before and it was because I had dreamt what had taken place. Yes, my dreams come true. People I don't know do things in my dreams and then I met them and they become part of my reality. What is happening? Am I foretelling my own future? Don't think so. I think it's something else involved. You probably think I'm crazy but I'm so sane, I'm boring. In fact, I feel that my life is so boring that I'm wasting my life. Life is soooo short and it's precious. So what do I do? I let it slip by me instead of really really living it. There's so much to experience, so much to do. I haven't traveled very much, met very many people. My five senses don't get much of a workout. Like I said my life is boring. Kind of like a treadmill I can't get off.

I'm Back!

I have to admit, I never write in this blog anymore. Why? Because no one reads it and I haven't needed a "journal release" in quite awhile. But today I do and so I'm venting.

First of all, I've read a few new blogs and have added them to my list of ones I read and I've come to the conclusion that reading blogs is a lot like listening to a talky person on the bus. They go on and on about things happening in their life that really aren't all that important but they just like to vent.
They tell you about the boss, mother, mother-in-law, husband, neighbor or sibling that made them mad
They tell you about the broken car, appliance, computer or elevator
They tell you about their dreams and aspirations to lose weight, gain weight, have a baby, get a better job, find a husband
Once in awhile they tell you about a funny situation or joke and that's good
But most of the time it's to vent.

My vent: my mother-in-law passed away last Friday. We were once very, very close. I had hoped she would be that mother replacement I have yearned for since my mother passed away when I was seven and I have yearned for a mother. But my MIL was never that close. She wanted to be girl friends. Go out to lunch, shopping and having cocktails. But she was always there when I needed her. When her son made the big announcement that he wanted a divorce because he was in love with another woman after thirteen years of marriage, she took my side and stuck with me until I divorced him five years later. Then the day after the divorce decree when I called for a visit, she said that it wasn't appropriate for us to visit anymore as her son needed her to be friends with his new love. Talk about heart broken! I felt like my mother had rejected me! (You divorce my son, I divorce you) So I haven't seen her (except at my daughter's wedding) in 22 years and now she's gone. My ex isn't having a funeral. Her body was cremated and nothing....I feel like there's a door closed that I never closed!

I Hate Football!

I saw the traffic congestion last night when I got off work at 4:30 pm. so I decided to take the train home. Unfortunately, I couldn't get to the train until after the last one left. There aren't many trains leaving Seattle. When I got on my Queen Anne bus, I could see that it wasn't moving once it got downtown, so I got off on Pine St. and started walking. When I got to the train station - it had left. So I walked to the bus stop - which was the last stop in town. I had to wait standing in the cold until 6:30 until any bus came for Kent. There was no seat so I had to stand in the packed aisle until I got home at 7:30!!! I was so tired and my feet were so sore. I hate football.

Christmas?

I haven't gotten the Christmas spirit yet. I found lots of neat treasures to take home. Some will go for Christmas presents and some for me. I'm into scrapbooking and found a set of 40 decorative punches for $10 - how can you beat that.

My youngest brother married a wonderful Australian girl that he met on one of his travels and has been having a 7 year long distance romance with. I'm so happy for him!

Well on to the meme:
"Flying may not be all plain sailing, but the fun of it is worth the price." -Amelia Earhart

1) Do you enjoy flying by air?
I love to fly by air. I love the whole experience. I have to have a window seat so that I can look at all the miniature buildings and roads as we fly by.
2) Do you typically check a bag when you fly or carry on?
I do both. I found that it pays to have a change of clothing in a carry on after my experience of the airline losing my bag when I arrived at Hawaii and was unable to change clothes for two days. Plus I like to stash all kinds of goodies in my carry on like reading material, snacks, cross stitch and camera.
3) Has an airline ever lost your bag?
As in the answer above - yes. I have to smile when I remember because I was very unhappy at the time and asked the manager of the resort what to do and as laid back as they are he replied, "You can wear your clothes without underwear, no problem." huh!!??
Describe what happened and if you were compensated by the airline.
The airline found my luggage after 2 days.
4) Do you eat the airline food?
Sure, it's okay if you're hungry enough.
5) What do you do to pass the time when you fly?
Visit and cross stitch.

My Turn

1) If you could move and build a house anywhere, where would it be?
In Paris of course
2) What’s your favorite article of clothing?
My lounging robe.
3) What’s the last CD you bought?
Celine's Greatest Hits
4) What time do you wake up in the morning?
At 5 am and 8 on weekends.
5) What is your favorite kitchen appliance?
My juicer and my expresso
6) If you could play an instrument, what would it be?
The piano
7) Which do you prefer, sports car or SUV?
Sports car.
8) Do you believe in the afterlife? She's in my favorite city--Paris right now! Someday, I hope to visit Paris. I've had dreams that I go there and that I decide to stay and not return to the US. Can't speak any french so I would be totally lost with the language but if I made friends with someone that could speak english then I would have a translator. In one of my dreams, I am in an art museum with other people and I get separated from them and am lost. I meet this guy with glasses and he shows me a place where I can have coffee and talk. It is so beautiful there. There are gardens and old buildings in the dream

Working in Fumes

Phew! Woe is me. I didn't get my flu shot this year because of the shortage and I have low immunity from my diabetes and heart condition. So I had a "direct immunization" with direct contact. I commute on the bus for a hour each day to work and back and each day I noticed more and more people coughing. I caught a flu bug zooming through the bus. Didn't stand a chance! It had me down for a week and 1/2. I still have the cough.

I've been working on my Sandy Orton "Cats Cats Cats" cross stitch sampler of cats. I just love the colors. It was a thriller along the lines CSI. It was good. I guessed who the killer was (as I typically do and killed the suspense for me) too early.

I spent most of last night taking everything off my zip disks and burning the files to CD. Now I have to figure out what I'm going to do with the zip disks. Go figure.

There's a part of me that has to organize and compartmentalize everything. But I convinced myself to go to work. Why? I don't know, I must have a fever and don't know any better. Those viruses floating around in that bus came across me and said,"Oh what a wonderful new home. She doesn't have any pesky immunity guards to bother us. Let's set up housekeeping and party!" While I was on the bus this morning, my mind was wondering. Had a long ride when it rains, the traffic slows down to a crawl. I was thinking of a poem:

I just wanted to be restive festive in my bed
But the viruses wanted to be party hearty in my head

Now you know how really sick I felt. Then I started coming up with some really cool hair jewelry. You make flowers out of crystal beads strung on wire and fasten them to a pony tail scrunchy. Don't remember now how they looked in my head. You know that feeling that you body is flooded with endorphins and you don't care about anything? That's how I feel now. Oh well, I'll get over it.Lost is one of my favorite shows in the Fall lineup. Some of my old faithfuls have returned. Yay!

History Repeats Itself

Every year I have this inspiration to do something with RICH autumn colors. It's about 65 degrees F and will be around that range all week. But my most favorite part is the beautiful autumn leaves! The colors are red, burgandy, orange, yellow, green and brown in hot colors right now. In the evenings, I like to go out with my telescope and look at the stars, planets and moon. The autumn evening sky seems so clear. I like to go to the different festivals in the surrounding towns. October Fest and Salmon Fest come to mind. The Salmon Fest is when the salmon come to spawn and the town celebrates with a fair. About 300 craft booths line the streets, street music and lots of food!

And now the meme!
1) Have you ever ridden a horse?
Once in my life when I was a little girl. I was totally overwhelmed with the horse's size and trying to get up on it! But it was fun.

2) What is your favorite horse story or movie?
This is giving away my age but when I was young, there was Gene Autrey, Cisco Kid, and all the western shows.

3) If you had the means, would you own a horse?
No, would have to be dedicated.

4) Do you think it would be neat if we went back to everyone traveling by horse and buggy or just an inconvenience?
No way! I think the traffic is bad enough going into work every day. It takes a hour to work every morning.

5) Have you ever ridden in a hansom cab?
Yes, they have them in Seattle for tourists.

Friday - Yay!!!

Made it to Friday! Put up Halloween decorations at work. Put up fake cob webs and a huge spider. It 4 feet across.

I got my water delivery last night. What's water delivery you ask? The water is terrible where I live. It taste all chorinated and chemical. So I'm renting a water cooler and get 3 gallon bottles delivered to my doorstep twice a month. Now I can make a decent cup of tea.

Last night, I overdid the carbs. I'm diabetic and I had chinese food with too many carbohydrates. I could feel the sugar level climb and I did not feel well. Since I'm not on insulin, I had to live with it so I went to bed early to sleep it off. The battery in my meter that tests the sugar was drained so I don't know how high it was, but I can guess that it was not good. I promise to behave myself today.

Sunday Brunch meme:

1. It is 4:14 pm and I haven't done much. I slept in until 11:30 -- cannot believe that. I ignored my cat when she tried to wake me up by butting her head against my arm. She usually tries running across my legs real fast a couple times but I got so mad at her and threw a pillow at her last time that she doesn't do that anymore. She finally gave in and laid next to me and purred real loud.

I got up and watched my recorded shows on Tivo and stitched on my needlepoint. Then I had brunch of a tv dinner. I don't usually rag on a movie but this one is people going on and on and on about philosophy and how bad the world is and how they hate America and how miserable they are. Pity Party in America!!! Kind of reminded me of the way Woody Allen goes on and on. My quest in life is to learn from people but I kept shaking my head saying, "I don't want to know." Too much information.

Angels in America?

I subscribe to Blockbuster Online and received the first dvd of two of Angels in America. I was confused. It should be Gays in America. It was all about gay relationships. Very unhappy gays. Some of my best friends are gays. Love them. But this film is not an unlifting one let me tell you. I have to watch the second dvd tonight and then I will give my final critique.

My daughter has started a blog. What can I say. I came home to an empty condo. Only living thing to greet me at the door were two very hungry cats. Feed me!! I opened the mail. Luckily no bills. Shredded the junk mail. Feed the poor starving critters and sat down to watch what TIVO recorded for me.

When you live alone, you don't have to answer to anyone but yourself about what to cook for dinner. So I had leftover cold chicken. I worked on my needlepoint. Actually this is the second piece of needlepoint that I have done in my whole life. Cross stitch is my passion but one has gotta sample all the goodies so to speak.

Want to see a cool picture of the earth right now from space? You're probably thinking - "Why can't she do them on weekends?" Nope, nahda. On weekends, I'm lucky if I can do the Necessary chores, like do my laundry, shop for a week's worth of lunches, pick up my cleaning and clean the condo. I have "special" projects I like to do on the PTO days. "Personal Time Off" days. I watch movies. I was getting movies from Netflix but they upped their prices, so now I get movies from Blockbuster. I enjoy watching a movie at my leisure and dropping it in the mailbox - no worry. I work on my needlepoint evenings while I watch TV. I go to the nursery and buy flowers to plant in my itty bitty garden. You don't get a lot of garden space when you live in a condo. So I plant pansys and roses. But this weekend, I'm planting autumn bulbs like tulips and daffodils in planters for next Spring. I got a whole lot of scrapbook supplies. I am going to scrapbook up a storm!! I watch Scrapbooking on DIY station on TV and it has gotten me so eager to try out some of the ideas I saw on the film. Plus I want to work on my FlipAlbum project. So that's a few of the things I want to do.

Wednesday - grown daughters

I have twin daughters. They are grown up and on their own with families of their own. I only have grandsons right now - keep hoping for a granddaughter. It's strange how two twins who look the same could have totally different lives. The lives they lead are as different as night and day. One lives in a huge new home that looks like a model home. You couldn't tell anyone lived there. Sterile!!!!

The other home is comfortable and lived in. Clean with family possessions drift in and out of rooms. I could go on but then it would seem like I am "ragging" on the Stepford wife.

I watched "The Passion" last night. I'm glad I had the dvd instead of being in the theater. I could stop the dvd and give myself a break. I was warned about the violence but being raised a Catholic, I had a santized view of the Passion of Christ. Remember the Pieta? There isn't a scratch on the body of Christ. Several parts of this movie moved me beyond tears. Like Mary wiping the blood up after the beating. So much. And the way those Roman guards kept laughing. Too much. After the movie, I just stared at the wall for awhile in complete amazement as I sorted out my flood of feelings. Mel Gibson wanted to grab us by the heart and not let anything --- anything escape us during the whole thing.

Click my ads for $

Seattle sunshine

It is so nice to have some sun in Seattle. Something you don't see often - so look closely. I learned about someone today. A person I know told me about her husband being seriously ill. I had not known that he had been ill for quite awhile. She had kept it to herself. That's the difference between her and I. I would have made sure that everyone knew about it! People who feel so sorry for me. But this woman didn't. She kept it to herself. There are things happening in people's lives that you have no idea about. On the ticket was written a number. Our number was 143. We were waiting for our chance to get into the King County Animal Shelter so that we could have our chance to see the dogs up for adoption. It was the Animal Shelter Adoption Fair. While I was roasting, there was this woman up on a stage harrassing the audience trying to get them to hit her target with a tennis ball so that she would be dunked in a tank of water. She had on the King County uniform with a hot pink grass skirt. I was envious of her dunking. I wanted someone to just turn a hose on me. In the background was an Elvis inpersonator singing some of his not so popular songs. When we finally got to go in the shelter, there were a half a dozen cages with labadors. Not the little dog my friend was looking for. Oh well, I got out and got some sun.
